ACADEMIC & SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILLS

Our youth development professionals provide excellent academic support year-round. Whether you’re in a school year or a summer program, young people receive support for their academic development while growing and thriving.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Trained staff provide students with behavioral health and wellness support. Students explore and form their identities in a judgment-free space. Trauma-informed care practices create a positive learning environment for every student.

STEAM, SPORTS & RECREATION

Students are introduced to a wide range of healthy lifestyle activities in our programs. From science, art, and technology to different sports and enrichment activities, students are introduced to a variety of opportunities to nurture their  minds and bodies.

We help students succeed in school and in life by providing academic support, family partnerships, and community engagement. We provide students with access to behavioral, health and wellness services as part of this Beacon Community School Model.

Daily homework help and academic support paired with character development, leadership, and STEAM enrichment. A wide variety of recreational activities help students thrive. Van pick-up available from select schools.

 

 

 

LATINX-NEWCOMER SUPPORT GROUPS (K-12)

Latinx-Newcomer Support Groups (K-12th grade)

Located at Everett Middle School, James Lick Middle School, Thurgood Marshall High School & other additional SFUSD schools

Our support groups help students to connect and navigate identity exploration and formation. Students participate in team activities and learn techniques to develop a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, and critical thinking skills. From altars to cultural events, students explore cultural identity and share their values to their greater community with pride. Students complete self-assessments to reflect on their growth and development and set goals for themselves and next steps to continue to improve.

 

 

 

ÉXITO ESCOLAR (6-12)

Éxito Escolar (6th-12th grade)

Currently serving Everett Middle School, James Lick, Thurgood Marshall High School and other SFUSD schools

  • Academic tutoring in one-on-one and small group settings strengthen study habits and improve grades
  • Support groups help students explore identity, culture, and personal growth
  • Cultural projects and events build a sense of belonging and pride
  • Teen Promotoras build leadership skills, exploring health, culture, and social issues

 

 

 

LITERACY PROGRAM (1-12)

Literacy Program (Grades 1-5)

Located at Bret Harte school and other SFUSD sites

Strengthens reading, writing, and language skills through engaging, culturally responsive academic support. Families are actively included to reinforce learning at home.

  • Vision Academy Camp (Grades 1-5)
    Fun camp activities that boost academic skills while campers create a “vision” for the life they want to live.
  • Willie Brown Camp (Grades 6-9)
    Hands-on projects exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.


Mission

  • Mission Mapaches Camps (Grades 6-12)
    A camp with activities for students to build self-esteem, bicultural identity, and a sense of belonging.
  • Soccer Camp (K-2)
    Camp to learn, grow, and play soccer outdoors while developing lifelong social-emotional skills.
  • Jardin Secreto Camp (K-2)
    Explore gardening, science, literacy, and art while building lifelong social-emotional skills.
