THE GOAL
Good Samaritan’s goal is to partner with immigrants of all ages in San Francisco to build upon their strengths, experiences, and dreams.
OUR APPROACH
Since our start in 1894, Good Samaritan has centered the immigrant community in all we do.
For the last sixty years in particular, Good Samaritan has specialized in meeting the unique needs of Spanish-speaking newcomers arriving in San Francisco. Together, our employees and participants elevate immigrants’ lived experience, promote peer learning, celebrate Latino cultural values, advocate for equity and social justice, and rely on evidence-based practices to position families for lasting success.
OUR PROGRAMS
Good Samaritan offers immigrants membership in bilingual learning communities that meet regularly. These include:
ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS
Good Samaritan welcomes Spanish-speakers new to our organization to one-on-one meetings with a friendly, bilingual member of our team. Together, he or she will help connect your family to childcare, school, food, classes, immigration services, other Latino-friendly organizations, and more.

“Good Samaritan’s newcomer support groups allow students to feel a connection to each other and the school, and to feel that their culture is being validated. This type of support helps our newcomer students go to class ready to learn each day.”
